What We Do
At LATAM Aid, we aim to share Latin American experiences both in the United States and internationally. Our work focuses on two areas: providing aid and sharing appreciation. We partner with organizations that improve the lives of those struggling in Venezuela, and other countries in Latin America. We are raising awareness and funds for those in need. Here on our website you can learn about different cultures and ways to support your community at home and at large.
About
We are an organization started by two Venezuelan/American high schoolers in New York City. Knowing that our family, friends, and fellow Venezuelans were fighting for their human rights, we could no longer watch as our country deteriorated from 2,000 miles away. The country has continued to deteriorate, so we decided to take action. Our first step was creating a school club that would act as a platform through which we could start to spread the word and get people talking about the issues facing Venezuela. We searched for ways that individuals like us could contribute to incredible organizations and help Venezuela. From that point on, we decided to expand our efforts beyond our country of origin, into our own New York City community, working with organizations that help Latin American immigrants and their children. By coordinating with existing charities, providing personal protective equipment to those in need, and spreading awareness of the obstacles that the Latin American community faces, we hope to expand our sphere of impact to address the current pandemic.
